PRO TIP
When calculating amount of material required, it is generally good practise to add 10% for ‘waste’. Ordering a little more than you need, means you won’t run short if you happen to make a mistake when trimming – and holding on to a small amount of excess material, is also handy should you need to carry out repairs at any time.

PRO TIP
Cedar T&G ‘shorts’ (3-5′ lengths) are often less expensive than longer lengths (6′-20′). If you are running soffit away from the house, or wainscotting, using ‘shorts’ is more economical than cutting longer lengths. If you require longer runs, a 3-20′ tally that incorporates ‘shorts’ into a wider variety of lengths, is more economical than a 6′-20′ tally, which commands a higher price.
